For over 30 years Alkasystems have been successfully used to feed animals by creating alkaline characteristics in cereal crop materials Alkalage®, Alkagrain® and Alkastraw® by harnessing the ammonia release technology of Home n’ Dry®.

Our International Agents Alan & Paul discuss ALKALAGE in Longford, Ireland...

We are looking back to March for this weeks #throwbackthursday, when Home n' Dry International Agents, Alan and Paul Sayle, visited Longford in Ireland.

Whilst on their trip they attended an on-farm meeting to discuss Alkalage and other ALKA feeds. They were accompanied by Ireland & NI Home n' Dry merchant, Jim Bashford, and Emmet Duffy, Ruminant Technical Specialist at A.W. Ennis Ltd.

Alkalage delivers excellent feed value from a crop you can grow on your own farm. It is made by harvesting a fully mature, combine-ready, WHOLE cereal crop (using a forager fitted with a processing mill) and then adding our unique Home n' Dry pellets.

The resultant feed is a stable, alkaline, high starch, protein enhanced and with a good level of structural and digestible fibre. In addition, there’s no fermentation loss, compared with roughly 15% on other ensiled forages.
