For over 30 years Alkasystems have been successfully used to feed animals by creating alkaline characteristics in cereal crop materials Alkalage®, Alkagrain® and Alkastraw® by harnessing the ammonia release technology of Home n’ Dry®.

In recent years the technology has seen the development of AlkabupHa® which reduces dietary acid loading from forages in Total and Part Mixed Rations (TMR/PMR) before entering the animal.

Meet the Team Monday - Rob Smith

With our customers located not only throughout the UK but internationally, and having spent the past 18+ months unable to travel as we would like due to Coronavirus, we want to show you the faces behind the telephone numbers here at Home n' Dry.

Next up is Rob Smith, UK Technical and Sales:

"I have always worked on mixed farms from a young age. I studied at Bishop Burton College, beginning with a FDSc in Agriculture - Specialising in Ruminant Nutrition, followed by a BSC (Hons) in Agriculture, Land and Business Management.

When I left college I went on to manage a 400-cow dairy unit, before setting up in farming myself.

Whilst farming beef and sheep, I developed a good mix of dairy, beef and sheep customers locally and in various areas of the country.

After spending a lot of time with farmers using Home n' Dry and seeing the benefits, I realised the potential that the product has in the UK. I took over looking after the UK Home n' Dry market 5 years ago following the retirement of Malcolm Graham.

Any spare time I get is spent farming at home and with my family. I also enjoy riding the bikes and kayaks with my wife Emma and 2 young children Evalyn (5) and Angus (3).
